About
The Finishing Trades Academy pre-apprenticeship program is a career training program with the goal of helping residents of Atlantic City gain opportunities in the finishing trades. The finishing trades, which include multicraft decorating, drywall finishing, wallcovering, painting, and glazing, can provide good-paying jobs without a degree and student debt burden. Through safety training, education, mentorship, and job application assistance, this program provides the people of Atlantic City the opportunity to build a great career that provides family-sustaining wages, health care, a secure retirement, and more. The Finishing Trades Academy is in partnership with the Finishing Trades Institute of the Mid-Atlantic Region, the training provider of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Age 18 or older
- Valid Driver’s License
- H.S. Diploma/GED
- Pass Drug Test
- Atlantic County Residents Given Priority
- Program Length: 3 Weeks

What do I need to apply?
To apply for the program, you must be 18 years old or older, have a valid driver’s license, a high school diploma or GED, and pass a drug test. Atlantic City residents are given priority. Beyond the minimum requirements, a career in construction is a good fit for people who are good at solving problems and puzzles, like to work with their hands, and prefer to be active instead of sitting. If you have a desire to learn, work hard, and excel, this program is for you.
